They're a good choice for spring weather. posted by: chicalookate (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (8:42 am) That is one of my favorite songs... certainly one of my fav Cure songs. That and Charlotte Sometimes. They both make me thingk of an old boyfriend. posted by: aqualung (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (11:11 am) i used to think that it would be great if popular culture would embrace the music i love. but then songs like this started showing up in camera commercials and i realized that i like keeping my music all to myself. i still like this song, but for awhile i could not listen to it. lately, i've been listening to the new low cd -- the great destroyer. have you given it a listen yet? posted by: cmaze (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (11:23 am) That is such a good song! It's not as dated as you may think though... ;-) I've been drowning in Beck's new album Guero. Which, I might add, is pure gold! That is, if you like Beck. It's reminicent of Odelay if you are at all familiar with that. I am guessing you are . :-) posted by: bloeyelashwish (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (1:07 pm) I'm a little sad the song is now heard on hp commercials touting their cameras, still love the cure though. posted by: brogonzo (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (2:20 pm) I've been, I confess, listening to Jack Johnson's new album. Yeah, it's a wuss thing to do, but it's good stuff to chill out to. Right now? "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus is on. I love this song. posted by: shadowmusic (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (2:21 pm) Hi, Here are the songs I've been listening to lately (and, if I'm at home & playing songs via iTunes, you'll see what I'm currently playing *at that moment*... kinda like an audio version JenniCam, or in this case, DavidsMusicCam): http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/ambient12/ posted by: BerlinBear (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (2:38 pm) Cool post. I have been, I confess, swimming in Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" for a couple of days now. It's not my fault. It's Ms Bear's fault. She was watching a red squirrel out the window playing in a tree and started singing "Uptown Squirrel", which she -being American - can make rhyme, but I being a Kiwi, cannot. It went on too, involving such excellent lyrics as "Gotta get a lots of nuts and find me a girl" and "My bushy tail's got a big curl" etc. So, strictly speaking I guess I've been swimming not in Billy Joel's uptown girl but in Ms Bear's Uptown Squirrel. Same diff. Just as catchy and annoying. The Germans have a great word for that by the way, when you can't get a song out of your head: Ohrwurm, which means "ear worm". And that, I think, says it all. posted by: TheCure (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (6:12 pm) Good choice. :) of course there's always.... blame it on the rain... blame it on the stars that shine at night... whatever you do... don't put the blame on you blame it on the rain yeaaaaah yeaaaah muwah ha ha haaaaa posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (9:20 pm) Reply to: JD Ah yes... Belle and Sebastian are a favorite... although I really don't care for too much past Tigermilk. j posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (9:21 pm) Reply to: chicalookate I think there is an entire generation of girls who associate The Cure with old boyfriends! :) Thanks for stopping by! posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (9:23 pm) Reply to: aqualung I know. It's tough when the people we admire most for being rogues go commercial on us! I nearly cried with Red House Painters showed up on the Gap commercials... just kill me now. As for Low.... I don't really want to go there. I loved the old stuff too much. I may be closed minded, but the new CD sounds a bit too hard for me. Thanks for the comment though. posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (9:24 pm) Reply to: cmaze I have not picked up the new beck, but I have to say I adored Sea Change. A lot of people criticized it because it wasn't standard Beck, but I adore many of the songs on that record. (I have Odelay, btw). :) posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (9:25 pm) Reply to: bloeyelashwish Ya. It's a tough pill to swallow. But maybe some new people will come to love them as a result. Plus... someone's got to keep Robert Smith in lipstick as he grows old, right? posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (9:25 pm) Reply to: brogonzo Good for you! Drown away, darling! posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (9:26 pm) Reply to: shadowmusic I have all your e-mails about this, and I will give it some time soon. What am I going to do with you??? Always finding new music sites and keeping me occupied?? I don't know what I would do without you. :) posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (9:27 pm) Reply to: BerlinBear Ok... that is some silly stuff. The imagery is great... even if it does involve mid 80's Billy Joel.! :) posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (9:27 pm) Reply to: TheCure It's official. You must die. posted by: cmaze (reply) post date: 04.07.05 (8:45 am) Reply to: juniperflux Yes, Sea Change was amazing - it was the more emotional side of Beck...seeing as he had just broken up with his girlfriend whom he was engaged to. I loved that album as well, quite inspiring. |
