We've talked about it.. and I like this one a great deal. Welcome back, jennifer. Andrew posted by: lurit (reply) post date: 04.20.06 (6:36 pm) You write beautifully. Such a sad story. posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.22.06 (6:32 am) Reply to: surrogate Thanks :) j posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.22.06 (6:42 am) Reply to: thejongleur It feels good to jot things down again. Thank you for drawing things that make stories bubble inside me. Thank you for making it ok for me to put my little bits of nothing next to the extraordinary things that you create. (They look pretty ok together, don't they?) jennifer posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.22.06 (6:44 am) Reply to: lurit Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate the company. j posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.22.06 (6:44 am) Reply to: lindy Rendered speechless, eh? I'd call that an accomplishment. *wink* j posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 04.22.06 (3:26 pm) Reply to: juniperflux *giggle* I knew it. I knew it! Yeah, actually, I -was- rendered speechless. This story is, well, forgive the throw back, as the pun IS intended but..it 'flexes' the might of your writing ability. *flex flex flex* Funny, when you take keyboard in hand, wonderful things happen. I found myself in the story and oblivious to my surroundings. Is that not the tell-tale sign, the stuff of which talented writers are made? Your return to writing is a red letter day in my book. And I found myself picturing your mother sitting in the middle of a room full of girls as they made themselves ready for a night out.. curious. posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.23.06 (6:49 pm) Reply to: lindy The moment I saw this drawing, I could hear words whispering to me from the page. Not my words so much as hers; faceless and desperate, it was clear from the start that she didn’t need me to give her voice, Andrew had managed to do that already with each perfectly placed dot. Rather, the more I look at her, the more convinced I am that it was kind of the other way around. *smile* The truth is, there are several girls I know who have become inexplicably linked to the one in this drawing and bits of each of them are peppered throughout the little bit of blather that the artist was kind enough to let me sit next to his work. (Of course, my mother is certainly among them). That said, perhaps this is more an exercise in self-indulgence than one in fiction writing. Nonetheless, it felt good to *flex* the old fingers again, as it were, and as ever, I’m grateful to ams for giving me a reason to do so. As for you… thanks for popping by and leaving me a few bits of you to chew on. Kind of reminds me of the old days. *wink* j posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 04.24.06 (6:57 am) Reply to: juniperflux Indeed. She was talking to me too. But I lacked the courage to write down what she was saying. *squeezes hands together in impressive flexing form* *falls off chair laughing at the thought of Juniperflux chewing on her bits* I suddenly feel the need for a shower. Okay, you can hit me now. posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.24.06 (7:29 am) Reply to: lindy "*falls off chair laughing at the thought of Juniperflux chewing on her bits*" Oddly enough, this reminds me a bit of our very first conversation. Funny how some things never change, huh? j posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 04.24.06 (9:26 am) Reply to: juniperflux *giggle* Funny that, eh? ;) posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.24.06 (3:52 pm) Reply to: lindy Hrmmm. Indeed. *wink* posted by: cyrix (reply) post date: 04.25.06 (1:56 am) made me speechless.. great post indeed.. :) posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.25.06 (2:16 am) Reply to: cyrix Thank you for your kind thoughts. j posted by: Cutter (reply) post date: 04.30.06 (12:14 pm) While reading, I found myself in the place of each character, at one point or another. In the beginning, I was in the place of the guy in the shower. Then, as the woman remembered back to getting the results of that test, I flashed back to getting my own test results when I was younger... hoping that they'd say what I wanted them to say. In the end, I was the child, making shadow puppets on the wall. The writing captures a lot of emotion, very simply... with few words. It's a lot like real life, and it mirrors the actual story... Sometimes there are volumes of intensity, contained in just a few minutes. posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.30.06 (6:13 pm) Reply to: Cutter "While reading, I found myself in the place of each character, at one point or another." I can hardly think of a nicer compliment. Thank you. ~~~~~ I've been lurking around your place a bit lately and I must say I very much like the idea of your "scaps project," as you call it. We pin these bits of ourselves to the wall and then step back and take a look. I think your collage is especially rich now that you've decided to include some vintage fabric, as it were. *smile* ~~~~~ Thank you for popping by here. I'm grateful for the company. j |
