posted by: olygirl71 (reply) post date: 04.28.04 (6:20 pm) ewwww, ewwww, finally a multiple choice test that I can get 100% on....my answer....ummmm, hmmm, this is really difficult....AAAAAAAAAA, duh! posted by: anonymousx (reply) post date: 04.28.04 (6:29 pm) I say A!!! posted by: msBLUEsky (reply) post date: 04.28.04 (6:34 pm) A posted by: pezgirl (reply) post date: 04.28.04 (6:44 pm) A of course :). Sure he is a poetic guy, but the way he led his life only served to create so much media buzz posted by: SheSpecies (reply) post date: 04.28.04 (6:49 pm) I can't go with either. I'm not that adamant either way about him, to be completely honest. I like some of his music a lot...but then there's a bunch that makes me feel like I'm being internally injured...He was cool. I'm wishy-washy on the subject all together. :-/ posted by: therealspartacus007 (reply) post date: 04.28.04 (6:56 pm) Tough question. I think A is definatly true, his legacy has been exaggerated, but that B may have been true. Sorry for the non-answer, lol posted by: DragonBait22 (reply) post date: 04.28.04 (11:01 pm) I kind of agree with both and would also prefer a different answer. :) I guess I agree that his suicide greatly inflated his popularity, but I also think that Nirvana's music had a major impact regardless and shouldn't be overshadowed by the controversy over his death, his potential talent compared to real, or his overrated appeal after his death. posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (3:39 am) Reply to: SheSpecies That's cool. I realize I didn't offer a middle ground... but in my experience, I don't find *that* many people who are neutral on the subject. Thanks for the comment! :) posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (3:40 am) Reply to: therealspartacus007 Hmmm... I wonder if this inability to commit to 1 absolute truth is a pattern. ;-) posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (3:42 am) Reply to: DragonBait22 Of course you would prefer another answer... few things in life are this black and white. However, in my experience, very few people I run across are neutral on the subject. Most have a definite opinion. Thanks for the comments! :) posted by: twelveshots (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (5:25 am) I go with SheSpecies! Some of his music is plain awesome...while the rest is suitable for only "certain" kind of people! Which a common fan of any type of music wont related to... I would go with something like.... He was a genius whose tragic death served to inflate his popularity!!!! posted by: chicalookate (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (5:49 am) Is there a C) all of the above answer? If forced to decide I would say A. posted by: Lloyd (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (6:32 am) I am something like A- or B+. posted by: Lloyd (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (6:32 am) Closer to A though. posted by: JENXER (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (8:28 am) B. If we are talking about his professional career as a musician. posted by: jisb7238 (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (11:09 am) A. Lets play power chords and tell everybody how bad our life is since we've sold 10 million albums and are rich as hell. posted by: newbie (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (1:21 pm) b posted by: blondebondgirl (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (1:48 pm) (A) i guess... but i love his music. but im not like "oh, he was a musical genius" if you get what i mean. posted by: blondebondgirl (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (1:49 pm) (A) i guess... but i love his music. but im not like "oh, he was a musical genius" if you get what i mean. posted by: islandArtist (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (7:51 pm) I have to go with A I do think he was a telented artist but Genious?? hmmm not too sure posted by: dumblondegirl (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (7:59 pm) Um, C None of the above. My opinion is somewhere in the middle of the road. I credit Nirvana for popularizing a whole genre of music and making it more mainstream (alternative and 'grunge'). Clearly he was gifted. But, to say he would have changed the world? They were a good, solid, influential band but change the world?! I dunno... posted by: SheSpecies (reply) post date: 04.29.04 (9:06 pm) Reply to: juniperflux I don't think that there are a bunch of artists who I am passionate about one way or another...well, ones that were mainstreamed, that is. Maybe that's an issue with me more than the artists though. I haven't decided yet. Hahaha posted by: brogonzo (reply) post date: 04.30.04 (8:17 am) Kurt Cobain was by no means the progenitor of grunge -- he was the guy who everyone rallied around when the movement's moment in the sun came around. I think he was an incredible musician - much in the way modern artists broke with conventional notions of beauty, Cobain (and company) took raw energy and emotion and let loose with it onstage. There are lots of theories as to why he killed himself (some of which, unsurprisingly, involve Courtney Love), but it seems to me that the fact that his deeply personal music was eventually being marketed to yuppie 14-year-olds depressed Cobain and made him give up on ever being really understood. I doubt he would have ever made any claims to being a genius himself. And of course, the easiest way to become famous in the music industry is to die early. Sorry I couldn't just choose one. I don't think he really fits neatly into either A or B. -- Ian posted by: Shark99 (reply) post date: 05.01.04 (9:07 pm) Dude you get more comments than complaints at the DMV hahah posted by: hikaru56 (reply) post date: 05.02.04 (12:07 am) b posted by: madhatta (reply) post date: 05.03.04 (6:45 pm) B |
